Using only a box of coloured crayons
I will give you the taste of the finest wine
In reddish brown I will layer your tongue with notes of cherry earth
I will stipple, with cerulean blue, overtones of tannin from oaken casks
Scribbles of lime green over ultramarine leaves a palimpsest
Of buttery chocolate beneath leathery herbals
To mix with the smoky Gouda on a cracker
And the Greek olives
And underneath my picture I will write in calligraphic flourish:
“The piquancy of Chateau Margaux” so your mouth will know what has happened
